Configure Accessibility Mode

Accessibility features such as screen reader support are always available in a Game, even if you have not added the Accessibility Mode setting. Add the setting when you want to customize the keyboard focus color or provide an introduction message for screen reader users.

Add and configure Accessibility Mode

  1. Add Accessibility Mode to your Game.
  2. Enable the setting.
  3. Under Focus Color, select the Highlight color used for keyboard focus.
  4. Under Aria Live Instruction message, enter the introduction you want screen readers to announce when the Game starts.

Focus color

The focus color highlights the element currently selected during keyboard navigation, such as when a player uses the Tab key. Choose a color that makes the focused element easy to identify against the rest of the Game.

Screen reader introduction

The Aria Live Instruction message is read automatically by screen readers when the Game starts. Use it to introduce the Game and provide any initial guidance that players need before playing.

Keyboard accessibility

Supported Games can be played with a keyboard. Examples include Quiz, Grace, Anaconda, and Knock. Grid-based Games such as Jewel and Gems do not currently support full keyboard gameplay.Available controls depend on the Game and can include:

  • Arrow keys or W, A, S, and D for movement.
  • The Spacebar for Game actions.
  • Number keys, such as 1–X, for selecting answers in Quiz and Quizzie.

Players can use these controls without adding the Accessibility Mode setting. The setting is only required to customize the focus color or add the screen reader introduction message.
